The site has been cleared and earthworks have commenced. If your little people like to see big machinery in action – there is plenty on site at the moment to see if you are walking or driving by.

We thought it might be interesting to provide construction updates by way of a diorama of our site! One of our kindergarten teachers has made this great small world diorama – she is very creative and loves scaffolding children’s interests in fascinating ways.

Small world play is a fantastic way to develop and extend children’s vocabulary. By storytelling and playing out scenarios, children can use their imaginations and express their ideas, which in turn leads to enhancement of the child’s vocabulary. A well-developed vocabulary is an amazing resource for a child to draw upon and will ease their transition to school.

Children who have access to diverse language from infancy use language to understand the world and to express ideas which they are developing. Small world play also allows children the possibility of being in control, to make things happen as they choose in an environment of their making.

Small worlds grant children access to a safe space in which they can explore their feelings, try out different scenarios and ideas that may be beyond their usual daily experiences.

At Little + Co, we look forward to extending the children’s interests and exploring them through small world play.

Stay tuned to see our creative efforts as we attempt to recreate Hutchie’s construction progress on our diorama!
